$500 too much for dyno tune?

Theres a shop about an hour and a half away from me, Racers Edge Tuning :: Southern California's Finest Mustang Shop and they charge $500 flat rate for a dyno tune. Is that too much? Another place nearby does $175 an hour, so does that equal out, as in it would take like 3 hours to do it? Not trying to spend an asston of money seeing as I have to save money to drive home next month, but if I dont get it tuned properly then I probobly cant drive home. Any help would be appreciated.

What mods? My dyno was $450 and that was for a full cam/manifold setup. If you have any power adder or heads/cams I would say that is reasonable. Especially if they are good. For a bolt on tune at the place where I got mine done is $400 I believe. And the dyno I go to is well known in my region as providing quality tuning. Hope this helps !

Can you really put a price on a safe, powerful tune though? I would rather pay the extra money and get it done right. Because I would rather pay an extra $100 than pay to rebuild my motor when it blows up from running too lean. !

I have the blower on it. And yea you cant put a price on a safe tune. But I did ask about military discount so it would be 450 he said. I just want to be able to actually have money to drive home. Otherwise, ill be screwed, but if I dont get the tune, I could be screwed too and break down somewhere in utah or somethin.

i think that's right on the money most places around here charge $120-150 and hr. so $450 wouldn't be bad

$450 for a S/C Tune is really really reasonable. Thats as much as it was for my Cams/Manifold tune! I say do it. How much boost are you thinkin about running?

I should be at about 9lbs. Maybe more.

Well I set up an appointment at a different shop. 150 bucks and they are gonna do a base run to see where im at, and then try to figure out whats wrong with my car. And I believe they are going to try and adjust the a/f to make sure im not running lean.

i probably haven't spent $450 on all 3 or 4 of my tunes combined lol. my tuner hooks me up, and does damn good work too. i'd recommend you if you weren't way the heck out away from me.

I wish I got the hook up too lol. I need to get my own tuner, with a shop, where I can go to whenever I want, and not bounce around multiple places. And maybe one thats a little closer.

"SeaBee"

LOL you and i are having the exact same problem, Im wanting to get mine tuned as well but dont want to take the risk of driving a s/c application 3-5 hours away. The tuner shop said it can be done as long as i stay off the throttle. But the place im going in Texas charges $550 Flat rate for a full custom tune plus a SCT SCAL III Tuner with it. Not a bad deal, There is another Mystical Place called Thuner racing somewhere within the bowels of baton rouge, la but i have yet to get in contact with them.

Ive already bought the 255lph fuel pump, 42lb fuel injectors from ford racing, high Flow Fuel Rails, i have to install my S-Trim supercharger kit (oil cooled) and it comes with a 90mm MAF, along with A Pillar Pod and 3 glowshift gauges (a/f, boost, oil). But i dont want to put all this stuff on and take the risk of detonating my engine in the way to get it tuned

... and does anyone know how to install Gauge pods or a link on how its done?...

Well I took it to the shop, and got two runs, a base run and then he messed with the tune a bit and got a little more out of it, and only charged 100 bucks. But I got other problems I gotta deal with now, so its startin to suck ass

Make sure your 255l/hr pump is for returnless fuel systems (its probably not). Check out TPS, i think they are around there someplace. Top quality work and cool guys.
Dyno Tuning -- SCT Tuning, Carburator and Fuel Injection Testing and Calibration, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

RET is a good place to go, and if that price includes an xcal, then its a good deal for sure. I charge $575 for an X3 and SC tune.

Ive been on this forum for about 2 months or so and ive gotten a lot of good information and im almost to the point of heading home from deployment to start the mods on this car. I have an 01mustang gt with quite a few mods already done and now im looking at forced induction. I have an n/ic vortech Strim supercharger. Now i got this kit off ebay and it came with the supercharger blower itself, i think an anderson powerpipe and a upper and lower intake from a bullitt. This kit also includes a Triple Pillar Gauge pod and 3 gauges and a pre-tapped oil pan. I plan on selling the upper and lower intake from the bullitt because i still want to maintain the look of the shaker hood. This kit did not come with a radiator pipe, Vortech Discharge Assembly or a Vortech Air Intake Assembly. all this cost me about $480.00. I have a couple of questions though.

Is i possible to still keep the shaker hood functional with custom piping to the supercharger and how would the MAF be relocated?

I have gotten quoted for $1997.08 for the install of the supercharger kit, Install of Triple Pillar Pod/w gauges and Wide-band, install of the 255lph Fuel Pump, Custom tune and Dyno-Tune..is this a good price?..

I havent purchased gears yet but will it make a big difference on Hp?

And can i install the 42lb.Fuel injectors and hf fuel rail without a tune to drive it to the shop??..

I have the following mods already installed:

BBK Under-drive Pulleys
ACCUFAB 75mm Throttle Body
SLP Cold air intake
BBK Ceramic Coated Shorty Headers
Delta Flowmaster 40 series Mufflers
H-pipe Setup
3 1/2 SLP Loudmouth Tips
Typhoon High Performance Intake Manifold
Autolite Sparkplugs .50 gapping
CDC Shaker Hood System

I dont have a whole lot of money to spend on this project my budget for the supercharger install plus all the parts and a tune is around 4k any advice as far as hp gains or things that can wait to be installed would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to buy the SCT Xcal3 SF instead of buying it from the tuner so i can tune the car for new fuel injectors. I have also figured out the solution hopefully to my inter-cooling problem: It's Snows Water/Methanol injection

http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...mber=SNW-20010

Has anyone used this setup yet? any noticeable HP gains or better gas mileage?

Im thinking about getting this one and install it with the supercharger. all the mods i mentioned on my car have already been installed minus the supercharger and accessories. Ill fix the issue with the Shaker hood system later. but for now i will use the cooling system in the link above and go from there. this way i can get more hp out of this supercharger at higher psi's but i also need to upgrade the internals as well for added power in the long run. This will be a project indeed but it will be worth the money in the future. I will post pics up as well as dyno results. I kept the stock pulleys when i swapped them with the BBK's.

$500 seems like a decent price. Just call around, it all depends on your location
