Opinions---friend won a new 2011 Mustang V6

My friend won a new mustang 2011 v6. However, he decided that it sucks and he dosent want it.... My question is, can you get enough out of it to trade it in and get an 03/04 mustang Cobra, and still have enough left over to have the dealer give you back some money?

He was super excited to learn that he won until he heard it was a V6lol.

BTW he is a Chevy guy, current go fast car is a T/A WS6 with heavy mods and his only way he is going to go ford is if he got a new 5.0 or an 03/04 Cobra.

Any advice. FYI the car was donated by a local ford dealer in a raffle so we thought working with them would return the car back to them in new condition if he finds a way to "own it" but not title it, see what I am saying...

Well, I guess you could understand the situation, the car they had for show was a v8 and be bought 100 bucks worth of tickets, come to find out, the fine print said v6 premium.

Plus, he is a die hard WS6 guy....

Yea that is kind of scandalous how they had a different car for show, Im sure you could somehow or another get into the seat of a Termi without dishing out any cash, if I won a brand new v6 thats exactly what I would do lol.

My wife won a Mustang V6 just about 4 years ago. We just traded it in for a new 2011 V6 Mustang.

Oh, btw, unless it was clearly stated otherwise, in writing, your friend is going to be responsible for paying taxes on his winnings. And I'm talking about IRS income taxes that amount to about one quarter of the ACTUAL retail value of the car. And then if he sells it, he has to pay taxes on the profits. Pretty soon that "free" car starts to cost quite a bit!

We decided to just pay the five grand in income taxes, and kept the car for four years, and it was worth $14k as a trade in this summer, and since we didn't owe a thing on it, that all went towards the new one.

ya taxes are gonna fuck him over pretty good... i wouldnt necessarily trade it in. I would probably try and sell it and then go looking for a termi...

Maybe thats not the best way though. Who knows!!!

You'll get way more money selling it privately, but I t cant hurt to talk to the dealer and see what they will do.

He did win the raffle or whatever for $100 bucks, but taxes are going to be high. I'd bet he'd pay an easy $5k-$7k just in taxes before he can drive/sell the vehicle.

Dealers are going to undercut your trade in and overprice the Termi. Pay the taxes, do a sick burnout in the 305 hp V6, then sell it with like 100 miles on it. You'll get enough money out of it to pay for a Termi + taxes. Or buy a Mach, a forged shortblock, and a couple of turbos.

wow, i feel BAD for your buddy.. only winning a v6. LOL I would pay the taxes and trade it if I wanted something else. If it's not worth it to sell it due to the cost of taxes and shit, KEEP THE FUCKING THING.. it's $5k brand new car!

i read about a guy who won a similar contest somewhere that basically paid the dealer a bit more and walked out with a 11 gt500 for an extra $10g out of pocket. i would figure that a bit more loot if its a dealer would get him a GT if that is what he really wants. Also, i was once told that in some states a contest like that also has to offer an equal cash value. I'm not sure if that is true everywhere, but its worth looking into. That is why you see so many contests with win a new car or $20k in cash so i was told.
