94 Cobra... buy or not ???

Hi all,
My 1st time and I need some help & advice. Have just moved from Australia to the USA and need a second car, and I have always loved the mustang. Any how I have a chance to buy a 94 Cobra 5.0.. has 150 on the clock, body needs some paint, rebuilt 5 speed. The guy wants $4450 but is willing to take $3900 for it. I was thinking of some mod's and new paint while driving it .... is it worth it and any know problems with them... thanks all

3900 is pretty good price for a Cobra even though it's sitting 150,000. I bought a Gt with 124,000 for 3200 and felt that was a pretty solid price.

IMO i wouldnt buy it
1st reason, its got 150k on the clock and judging by the rebuilt tranny its been beat on
2nd paint is expensive

BUT
being it is a 5.0 as well as a cobra it would be really easy with a bit of cash to make it fast as hell, also since its a cobra should hold its value fairly well as long as it is in decent condition.

kinda gotta think about if you wanna go fast or just be in style, stock i dont think its fast at all but being a 5.0 its easily modded

do you have pics? what kinda condition is it in? interior? wheels? regular maintanence records?
engine run smooth??

alot more factors are included if you gave us some more information it would be easier to judge if it is worth it or not

Thanks sj408, I got the guy down to $3700... will post some pic's, engine run's smooth and has low profile wheels in good condition 11 inch, body is great. Inside needs clean up and replace carpet but looking to spend a bit cash and put most into mod's on performance so any ideas would be great. Also thinking about dropping her down 1 to 2 inch's and bring the smoke out the side near the re-wheels.

What you shoulda done is ship a Ford Falcon over here and had some fun with that, I been to Australia a couple times and LOVE those cars along with the Holden Monaro, they sound beastly, but IMO I would go ahead and get the Cobra, its a good price and if its in good running condition you could easily put a lil money into her and get more back in the long run...

Yep, your right it's a GTO... the new Falcon's are nice and the XR6 has some grunt but you can't play over in Auz with out a speed cam getting ya. On the hwy between Sydney and the central coast which is 110 kmh you have 4 speed cam's. Every School has a speed cam out side. One road I took 2 to 3 times a week had 5 all up, and the drive was about 20 mins.

Thanks for the help guy's... will be asking more... oh does any one know any body selling a Paxton or a Vortech sc to fit a 94 Cobra cheap :-)

actually it would be closer to the sc300 and nice try and throwin it back at me but the main reason to bring it over would be like 320 hp stock and twin turbos.... opposed to the 220 or whatever it has here in american thanxokbyeyoufail
