knocking noise coming from engine any ideas?

i was in the gas kinda hard not to the floor tho and i missed third, and my car back fired when i stopped at the next light i heard a tick. under the hood its faint from down low around the wheel its louder and noise increases with rpms any ideas??

My auto sixxer has the same issue. There is no change in preformance in the car compared to prior correct? Yeah I have driven it like that for over a year now, have had a couple of opinions on what it is, ranging from an injector being poor or warped to bad valve in the engine to a lifter that is floating.

I just have said f*** it and when she dies I'll do my overhaul since the 4.6 is in the shed.

But for the time being I make sure to and some lucas oil engine additive. Seems to quiet it down until just about oil change time again.

Kinda is like my car is speaking to me. Lol

If you have damaged your motor, it doesn't usually give hints. It usually tells you out loud that it is suffering. That tick could be anything. We need more information.
