best 2valver for my turbo setup

I have about $12000 to spend and I want to make a single turbo 5spd mustang tuned and reliable with at least 400rwhp.
The oldest I would want to go is 1994...
What year mustang would you recommend to complete these goals (94-95, 96-98, 99+)
I have found that for just the car its been around...
94-95 $5000
96-98 $6000-8000
99+ $9000+
(gt convertible 5sp pricing....good condition)
Should I consider a cobra from 1996-1998?
I feel like if I get the 99+ model I won't be able to turbo it and stay under 12k which is a must.
As you can see I have a million ideas in my head and I am not sure which combination of mods and engines would yield the best, most reliable, and price effective solution. I know that some engines flow better than others and some have more parts available but some help would be appreciated. thanks

you can get an older GT for 5 or 6 but turbo and new motor and prolly tranny will blow up your budget

i suggest looking into a 96-98 cobra and build your turbo off that motor. you can find one in decent shape for $6-8K on ebay.

+1 on the 96-98 Cobra, if you only want to spend 12 and still get the Turbo.. just remember you going to have to upgrade tranny a bit, and get a set of gears...i think the stock internals should be ok for around 400 but i wouldnt put much more than that. Good luck.

in all honesty i don't think you have the budget it for it. I say just pick the body style you like the most and go from there. You will be surprised on how much everything costs when you add everything up, and i don't mean internet adding, tax and labor and running into problems never get accounted. But if i was to get another car i would either go with a 96-98 cobra, or another 99+ GT. DO NOT get a 95, the heaviest mustang every built lol.

sn 95 cobra 7,000
getting everything running smooth enough for turbo setup about 2,500 with labor and all of the upgrades to handle 400 horse
turbo 3500
Your already at 13 g's. That isn't including getting the turbo in the car.

Unless you are savvy enough to install everything it isn't going to happen.

Just get a terminator for about 13k and call it good.

i can get everything i need for the turbo setup including the turbo for 2500 and then get it installed for 500...so i need to find a car that is turbo ready for 9000...i think this is possible but i still dont know how much the transmission can take...with my budget i might have to lower my hp goal a bit to fit my budget?

An sn95 GT can be had for 5g's you can do a whole rebuild of the engine for 1000 dollars plus labor. A new tranny could be had for 1500. That is 7500 plus labor which I doubt will be more than 1500.l
