Thunk/Grinding sound when let out clutch

I have a 2000 GT with 117,000 miles on it. Sometimes when I let out the clutch in first or second gear and it doesn't have quite enough throttle behind it, it makes a clank noise that also sounds somewhat like a grinding sound. It also has idle problems when coming to a stop after taking it out of gear. The idle will jump up and down between 200 and 900 rpm and will sometimes die but I don't believe it has anything to do with the other sound. I have replaced the IAC valve, cleaned the MAF sensor, and cleaned the throttle body. My next guess is the EGR valve or the TPS. Any ideas about the sound or even the idle?

Have the same thing I think it's a adjustment on clutch fork pivot ball happened since flywheel resurfaced with new clutch have to do more research myself but I put a new tranny in and still has noise so it's not the tranny. Don't know the best option ,adjustment or new flywheel since the flywheel has been resurfaced few times, I'm going with new flywheel and not touch the clutch fork adjustment will keep you posted on my results good luck

U sure the thunk isn't coming from the differential? my buddy with an ls cammaro had similar issues and it was his differential going out... finally snapped a few teeth out

Okay yea definitely let me know what you end up doing. I figured it was some kind of adjustment with the clutch but I was never able to get a good answer from anyone even my mechanic.

Does anyone else have any ideas about the idle problem though? The car is still drivable but it is just very irritating. I also feel like it is also lacking the power it should have. I’m also debating seafoaming the engine by running it through the vacuum line.

iac may need cleaned out if you haven't replaced it with those kind of miles it's likely going out anyways.
