A speedo and odo question

sorry this is off topic but I got a cadilac STS that has a weird speedo. The speed reads way too high for the speed im going. and the odo had 140000 miles on it and when this problem happened it jumped to 300k miles in a day. does any one know what this could be? a sensor, green chip? thanks and sorry for the caddy question.

i dont think its a sensor.... its prolly the chip, or it may still operate via a gearing mechanism. I dont know alot about Caddy's but it's more then likely that they are linked to the same faulty source.

well the value of that car took a dive when the miles doubled in a day lol
