Spun bearing....what now

Well I think my car spun a bearing, cut open the oil filter and found metal shavings.....so I'm kind of weighing my options....do I get a forged rotating assembly and keep the car for awhile. or do I just buy a cheap replacement crank and individual rod? I'm thinking I might trade the car in on a newer stang, but in the condition its in now, its not worth a few pennies.

any suggestions, anyone been through this before?

i've blown motors before. happens in this hobby. depends on what you want to do. if you are wanting to trade it in, i'd just find a wrecked car with similar mileage and buy the motor. it will cost you more to rebuild it than to just replace with a used motor.

just pick up a used motor, replace it and trade it in. i picked up a used motor for 500 bucks to replace my blown motor im sure you can probably find one for cheaper with less miles. you might be better off selling it and using the money as a down payment.

I've got a friend building a three valve and he said he'd sale me his
Bottom end, aluminum block and all, for $1000. The three valve has always ran royal purple and has 30,000.... So I figure worst case scenario I'd have 1000 in getting it back on the road. If I wanted to keep it....does that sound expensive or is that about right?

with the different pistons i dont know what will happened to your compression if you put your heads on it and yes thats high for a stock used shortblock...that 1000 can go towards a used longblock or a brand new shortblock or a brand new longblock
