600HP+ Terminator never dyno tuned??

A couple nights ago I ran across an 03/04 Cobra at sonic that had a Kenne Bell of unknown size. He said he was running 18 pounds of boost. Ok, thats fine and dandy. But then he goes on and tells me that he has never had it dyno tuned and had no idea what kind of hp it makes. All he said was he guesses it is over 600, which is no doubt true. He said he was running a tune that came from kenne bell.

Is this normal? Surely it isn't safe. I just thought it was very odd to be running such high numbers and had never been on the rollers.

One can guess all day long and just never know.
KB is good at what they do. No way I would run it hard without knowing what the a/f and timing was!

The kb tune more than likelly has it pig rich with very little timing. If I were to invest that much money, I'd invest a lil more and maximize the setup by having it dyno tuned.

Exactly. Why not spend an extra 500 bucks and do it right? I think it is very valuable insurance to know your engine is running right. Especially when over 500hp.

if you can street tune, that's just fine as well. as long as you know what you're doing and mind the a/f ratio it should be good. kenne bell does put out a tune for the cars, but who knows whether or not you're sitting on a time bomb?

sounds believable. but me personally, if i am laying out that much money, its getting tuned. i guess my money is just more valuable to me than others is to them.

I email tuned a couple high hp cobras. It can be done if the operator is up to it. A wideband is a must!

He might have been able to work with KB to send them datalogs and have them refine the tune just like an email tuner would. Did you happen to see if he had a wideband?
