has anyone put a Cleveland 351 into an SN95?

I'm interested in rebuilding an engine, and I like the 94-98 body style.

Is it possible to fit the engine into the bay without major modification?

Also is it possible to hook up a modern transmission to and older carburated engine?

Yeah! You will need a 94-95 GT crossmember and it should just fit right in there! And I think you can run a modern tranny with the carbs, because arent they based off of vaccum?

Well I've seen T5 conversion kits for first gens. I wonder if they have one for the T56

Thanks for the quick reply btw.

I think this could b a cool project as my grandfather worked at Ford (Cleveland) when the 351s were in production and he would be my main source of help

The clevelands are getting harder and harder to come by nowa days because of the short run time! And I bet you could get a T-56 to work with a pushrod! I dont see why not!

My understanding is that the real advantage to the Cleveland was the heads. Absolutely fantastic flow... for the time. Nowadays, you could do a Windsor for cheaper, and get aftermarket heads that flow just as well, if not better. The other thing you could look into is a "Clevor" motor, it's some combination of Windsor and Cleveland parts, I know they're good some ungodly amount of power, the latest Car Craft has one you can buy as a kit (to the tune of $10K) that assembled, is a 427 stroker that makes 700hp on pump gas.
