is the steel putty the way to go?

so i have a problem; my thermostat bolt broke on to the head. The only way i was able to take it off is by drilling the bolt out. The only problem is now the hole is bigger than the screw, so i added the stuff that hardens like steel and threaded it, but it dont seem to work or dry. any ideas what i can do to fix this, i heard of rewelding the hole and threading it again. that is the last thing i want to do because i want to take my motor to the machine shop in two months, so i need something temporary that would hold.

have you thought about just tapping the hole for a larger bolt?

also next time try heating up the bolt and using some perafin wax to get it to release. usually works like a champ.

I've heard of that, but don't know how it works.

You drill the hole out to the proper size, insert heicoil (basically a threaded insert), and then insert bolt. Google will help you out and so will the instructions that come with them.
