Gutted magnapack mufflers !!!?

KK so I know this guy that says he had an exhaust shop cut out the packing inside the magnapack muffler (He has a catted x pipe by the way) and he has absolutley no droning and car sounds awesome. Nascaresque sounding for sure. Anyone ever heard of this? It does sound like a ricer or redneck thing to do but just wanted your guys opionion on the matter.

^ he makes a good point, you will have ZERO back pressure. Ive heard of people doing that to their cats and trying to pass a visual etest or smog?

Yea I neverheard of doing that too, what he said was to cut it open , pull the packing inside , then seal it back up. I believe the loudmouth 1 have no packing inside them as well.

Dont bother with that man. Just buy a proper muffler, it will last you longer and will sound better.

Why would you do that? Your car is gonna sound like ass. The magnapacks sound great don't ruin them. Just get LT's, an O/R X, and you'll be set.

run your car open headers for a week. then see how quickly you bolt the exhaust back together lol

IMO flowmaster 10 series (single chamber) sound the best on any mustang whether a 302/351 setup or a mod motor got 'em on my 2v with stock manifolds and h pipe with dumps and they sound fantastic they are goin on my carb'd 418w 95 mustang when it's done as well

Saleen0101 – We’ve never heard of that. 1996 GT is right…you’re better off buying the right muffler without the packing. Cutting open a muffler, removing the packing, and welding it shut is more trouble than it’s worth. There are plenty of mufflers on the market that are plenty loud and don’t have packing in them.

40thanvblkgt – We’re glad you like the Flowmaster Super 10 mufflers. Are you dumping the exhaust before or after the rear axle? Do you have a video of the sound?

I knew a guy with an older ford truck that did LTs and glasspacks, he cut the glasspacks open and gutted them.

It sounded like a top fuel dragster lol. Insanely loud. I think it was louder than open pipes. It was nuts. Sounded great though.
