Quick '03 3.8 V6 to 4.6 V8 engine swap ... tech advice wanted

I am re-posting this on the V8 forum just to see if I can maybe get other tech advice on the swap... below is what possted on the v6.

Hey guys,

OK... so, now I'm opting for the 4.6 GT engine swap. As per my BAD SOUND thread, this is the direction I'm looking at. Since I am in Canada, cost differences in buying a GT is slightly skewed. Those of you who have seen Sally III and know her issues and have read the other threads may advice a bit better.

So here is where I stand:

I'm making arrangements at 4.6 mustang engines with low mileage. I have someone who has the facility and equipment and necessary experience to do the swap. Given that he does it on GM's but with turbos and superchargers.

I need to know what I'll be missing in the swap and so far this is what I'm seeing to need:
4.6 Engine
Exhaust Manifold (I have custom true dual Mach 1 Take-offs after the cats)
Entire intake assembly
Wire Harnesses (plus extensions)
ECM

It seems that the part numbers for a v6 alternator is different form a GT so let me know if my v6 alt is useable. I'll see if I can get the engine complete with accessories.

From what I know, the GT and coupe transmissions are the same... T56 is what I'm getting from the engine supplier... T5 is what I've read for both.

Rear end and suspnsion can be for later (and BREMBos).

Advice on the build from techies would be appreciated.

A

Depending on the year of the GT it would have either a t-45 or 3650 for the later new edge cars. But a t56 is a great way to go. And obviously a v8 will require more fuel than a 6er. Did you check the clutch on the 4.6 to see ifit was decent? Btw you will need a different alternator for the v8. Good luck with that swap man.

a small list of the things your missing,
complete fuel system, front to back
radiator, fan & res.
gauge cluster
all the engine related hoses
hydroboost system & all brake hard lines
driveshaft
k member
all underhood air conditioning components
exhaust hangers for dual exhaust sys

I'm shure theres plenty I'm forgetting, but that a start.

to do this swap you pretty much need a complete donor car

iv done this swap and it was worth it in the end. anyway the trannys from the 3.8 will not fit a 4.6 block the bellhousings are cast in the bolt patterns dont line up. and when it comes time to start it lol... ull need to have 2 new keys reprogramed for the pats system. key cluster n pcm need to match up. anything else shoot me a pm ill see if i can help.

also n 8.8 would be nice u can get away with the 7.5 with n open diff but its not as fun.

Buy a wrecked GT that's been rear-ended. That will give you pretty much everything for your swap.
