Tuner & CAI void warranty?

I have a 2006 GT and I called my local Ford dealer to see if adding a CAI and tuner would void warranty and they said "yes".
I find this hard to believe since Ford offers a similar kit. Anyone have these items installed and had warranty work performed?

Well by law adding performance parts cannot void your warrenty. But if there is reason to suspect that the reason why something went wrong was because of your moddifications then they dont ahve to do anything. Sobody else will probably say this in clearer words!

as far as i know adding anything to your car that is not oem origional and in any way alters the performance of your car will void your warranty

I was a ford/gm service advisor just a year ago, before i came into the service. Here is how it is stated by ford/gm/ any car company.

*The addition of aftermaket parts will not void the warrenty on the vehicle unless it is found by the technician that the cause of the problem is the result of the aftermarket part being installed.

So say you put a lowering kit on a vehicle, and your tie rod fuc*s up.. the ONLY way that the warrenty will not cover it is if their dealership tech says the tierod broke because of the lowering springs. If you have some common knowlege about vehicles you can call BS on them and they should fix it.

As far as the programer. If you are having ANY problems that they (the dealership) wants to hook up their comp to your car, you need to put the stock tune back into your PCM. This way their comps can read and and make corrections if needed. (Also as some maintanence services hook up the comp, to your OBD2. If you put the stock tune back on they cant say anything)

A dealership and ford/gm dont want unhappy customers and they WILL fix you problems if you stay persistant about it. Dont let them scare you with that warrenty BS!

I hope this helps you some!

Also if they give you some BS about its a new policy.. that is also BS! I just got off the phone with my buddy back at the dealership, and nothing has changed it is the same as what i told you above.
