2001 COBRA or MACH 1?
I sold my stang back in the fall and now its spring and the addiction is getting to me every month when I get all the stang magazines in the mail. I have decided that I want a 2001 Cobra or a 2003/2004 Mach 1. I need your opinion on which one and why.

i would go with the mach 1 just because i love the look but the 01 cobra is hitting at 320/317 the mach 1 305/320 but im sure with a couple mods you can get those 15 extra horses

oh the mach 1 would probobly take the cobra stock for stock but honestly who cares because whoever puts the gears in will win

What do you want to do with the car? Engine wise, they are pretty evenly matched. The Cobra will have the IRS which is not good for drag racing without beefing up. I would go with the Mach without question but I am biased.

OK guys, you pretty much feel the same way I feel! As far as performance, I am only concerned about straight line and gears will be my first mod! I am also wanting a car that holds its value because I plan on keeping this one a while and only driving it on the weekends.

Mach 1 FTW!
Because cobras arent as rare IMO. I mean hell they only made the late model mach1 for what 2 years which IMO makes them kinda a collector, or atleast should be later on in life. And if your looking for the rare or collector, I wouldnt mod the mach1 either. But thats just my opinion.

Go with the Mach for sure! It was only made for 2 years so in the long run it will hold its value over the cobra.. the preformance is about equal. And if you are a straight line runner.. the Mach has the solid axel. Seems like its your best bet. And as long as you get a manual.. you have the benifit of the forged crank.

i would take the mach1 also i read/heard that the 01 cobra never seemed to make that 320hp anyway and that's why no 02 was made, they had to get the stuff together. i have a 98 cobra anyway.

cobra has more power, id rather have the cobra... but the mach has its advantages.... for car your tryin to make really fast the mach 1... for just average to moderate mods the cobra

Not even a doubt in my mind...Stock for stock the Mach 1 will beat the cobra... And yes the Cobra had problems making the right power in that time... |

4.10s, x-pipe, intake, and tune and you are going to be DEEP in the 12's with some DRs Plus they are the sexy Mustang EVER (just my opinion)

Mach 1. Cobra's might bada$$, but the mach 1 is classy. Slightly mod her, gears and bolt on's. Try to keep all the original parts for later in life. But then again, Im modest in car nut ways, i think 350 at the crank and 300 to the wheels is plenty, with bolt-on you can get that with the mach 1 no problem

u guys forgot about the cams.....the MACh 1 cams and the 99-01 cobra cams are diff. mach 1 is made for a streight line so ford aimed the cams for low - mid range power and tq while the cobra's cams are aimed for mid to top end power thust giving it that peak power of 320 instead of 305. mach 1's won't have to rev the piss outta it to make power like cobras. cobras are for auto X and currects(sp?) mach 1 is a 1/4 beast......both make good power with bolts ons an blowers. just expect the mach to win over the cobra with eqaul mods and/or boost.
