TIRESSSSSSSS NEED HELP!!!! people with knowledge

so ive decided to go with a different set of wheels on the mach now im curious to know what tires are as good as the bfg kdw 2's

they dont come in a 295 or 315 tire for a 17inch rim so i have to look elsewhere, ive looked into the nitto invos and the nt05s but i fear they will be to soft for daily driving, dont really give a shit about summer to all season tires just want something that are just as good as the bfg kdw 2 tires, i truthfully dont know to much about tires so anyone with some knowledge would be great

As I always say...

Tires should be chosen by the drivers needs and decided by the budget

What kind of grip do you need? Saying as good as the KDW2 is really not enough, as they are a latteral grip tire. Do you....

DD with occasional 1/4 mile?
DD with LOTS of 1/4 mile?
DD with some twisties?
DD with AS MANY TURNS AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY MAKE BECAUSE YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO A STEERING WHEEL THAT IS POINTED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOUR CAR?

What size wheels are you going to be running up front and out back?
What year ride will these be used? (I only see a Tacoma in your sig)

Ive been through quite a few brands of tires, bfgoodrich g sports, nankang, falken azenis and ziex and fk452, lexani and nexen n3000s

i just bought nitto nt555s for my rear and i will say that ive never had such a nice tire for cornering and grip. If im attentive i cannot even break these things lose through the corner where any of the other tires would have broke loose and lost traction

ive had a bad experience with nittos (555s)

and jazzer its a 04 mach 1 right now its sits on 95 deep dish cobra r's 18x9 18x10 however i want to switch to a 17x9 and 17x10 wheel 255 up front due to rubbing issues and 295 rear not really sure if a 315 will fit without rubbing the 295s roll under close as hell to the fender on axle articulation

found some kumhos but tread wear has a horrible rating

Horrible tread wear rating is a relative thing I run as low a tread wear rating as I can find that is street legal

You will not properly fit a 315 on a 10" wheel, so 305's is the max. What are your needs as a driver...

DD with some 1/4 mile?
DD with LOTS of 1/4 mile?
DD with some twisties?
DD while RIPPIN' DA CORNERS AS OFTEN AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE? *you would be my hero*

I don't like my nitto555s or my nt05s. they both suck. the nt05 has a hair bit more straight line traction, but the 555s after about 5k your better off driving on the rim alone. the 555s last quite a while but the nt05, not so much. i love my kdw2 on the front. i got 245/45 17 front and 315/35/17 rear. when it comes time for new tires im going with the kumho ecsta spt for its price and tread wear rating. If you just want a decent tire with no regards to price or tread rating, look into the kumho ecsta xp. I've heard good things about that tire

You need to be specific here....

Are we talking NT555's or NT555R's? Either way, if you are getting only 5K miles off of them, you are dumping the clutch at every single stop light and being consumed by the smoke emulating from beneath your ride

The 555R's will give you a solid 8K~10K miles even with 10 HPDE days a year. This is what I do and got about 8K from my 888's. The difference being, I run a lot of negative camber up front and they get heat cycled out by this time.

The Kumho Ecsta SPT will give you FAR better mileage than the NT555R's and probably a bit better than the NT555's, but ALL of this depends on one keeping the tires in contact with the road surface and not buring them off.

the nt555 like stated. they lasted almost 2yrs, but after about 5k they had no traction. full tread, just no grip. the first 5k they got excellent grip. and the nt05 where better in the rain and still get decent traction, but after about 4 months of use its worn down to almost the wear bars

So NOT the R's.... hmmmmm

Sounds like they were heat-cycled out, but never heard of such a concern on a 300 UTQG tire

Did you like run them in freezing temps or extreme temps a lot or..... ?

Jazzer = Befuddled

have drove on them in below freezing temps, and trust me they really suck on ice. lol But they lost grip before that. they did alright at best in the rain when i had traction control on, but now that my abs module is bad they're horrible in the rain. the NT05 is a much better tire in my opinion as far as rain driving, straight line grip and corner grip, but they only lasted 1/3 of what my 555s lasted.

^ I run them from somewhere in April to October and love them for street use

They sound a LOT like a low-flying crop-duster plane, depending on the road surface. They offer improved grip over the PS2's (fantastic tire, BTW!) I run on my Winter wheels, so worth it to me. I have never driven the NT05's, but certain would not be as good as them in the heavy wet. In general, I don't like to drive them in the wet anyway. When I do, VERY conservatively do I drive, as I run very wide tires as well and hydro-whohooing is not fun when you don't plan it

I have only run the Nitto 555's (had only bought 3 sets since 2001), I have good experiences with them. I am due for a new set....The cheapest I found for a 245/45/17 size is usually from Discount Tire Direct.com....IMO, the overall price and purchasing experience is A1. Checkout their site, especially w/ free shipping, and depending on where you live (state) no tax. Their tire replacement warranty is great, never had it so easy.
