Magnaflow tru X vs DR GAS X

Ive been trying to decide which one to go with however the sound clips ive found online seem that there isnt much difference in sound if any between the two, as a matter of fact they almost sound identical. Is this because the magnaflow is a tru x as opposed to some clam shell x pipes like bbk? The tru x gives it almost like a nascar sound to it which is what im after. Anyone have any input?

Also, woud catted or o/r sound the best paired with magnapacks . Thanks

K so I decided to buy the dr gas cross over and have the exhaust shop cut off my current x pipe crossover and weld in the dr gas. I ll get sound clips soon. Dr gas sounds amazing from all the sound clips ive heard so far.

I have magnapacks right now. I heard dr gas has a higher pitch scream above a certain rpm that resembles an indy car. Nothing sounds quite like it on the market.

Saleen0101:

I'll answer your question because I for one am running the setup:

Magnaflow Magnapack + Magnaflow Tru-X catted x

I love it. If I had the choice again, i'd do it (again & again). Little to no-drone. It's not raspy at all. You can still listen to your tunes while cruising at 2k rpm's without having the volume cranked.

You'll get alot of compliments

Ok thanks for your input man. How loud is your setup compared to o/r x? I dont want to be obnoxious loud, just want loud enough i guess., Ive heard under load that magnapacks can be very raspy .

Never heard (except on youtube) someone with magnaflows w/ a Off road x pipe. I'd imagine it being LOUD. Like you wouldn't want to pass a cemetary... might wake the dead . (jk jk)

Im not a fan of o/r pipes. Don't like their noise pollution nor do I care about a extra 1-2 rwhp.

I have friends who have Borla and SLP catbacks with o/r pipes and their cars (in the cabin & driving behind) are louder then mine.

For me, I have less drone with the magnaflow catted x then when I had the stock h pipe cruising on the highway. (I mean don't get me wrong there's some but as little as it is, doesn't bug me much).

See now I have a buddy with just a bbk o/r x and magnapacks on his 02 gt and it's WICKED loud under load and pretty raspy. Another has a 97 with kooks lt's, bassani catted x and magnapacks and most raspy car I've ever heard, and one more with a 03 GT bbk lt's, catted x and magnapacks, sounds good, gets loud under load, and dead quiet at idle like the rest. But all but the last one drone like hell. And I personally don't like magnaflows quality. The thin wall flat face tips are ugly, and I really would love to call bs on there stainless steel products, cuz all of those guys have rust issues already, and I've seen other cars running there products having rust issues too. Pulled a catted x (magnaflow) out of a 99 cobra the other day and it was fully rusted and only 2 years old.

I personally would recommend vrs over dr gas or upr or anything like that. I know a lot of people don't like slp lm1's but I've gotten a TON of compliments on it and people calling bs my cars only a 2v. Everyone thinks it's a 4v and is not real raspy at all. Honestly smoothest lm1 car I've ever heard
