Motor finally blew. :(
Hey everyone. So i spun a rod a while back in May. car ran good just a faint knocking noise till tonight when it all went to shit & The motor locked up. It made the worst noise every till it finally locked up. SO now its on my driveway, everything starts, except the motor. the rod didn't shoot thru the head but its pretty much done..... So my question is, i have 1200$ saved up. I can get a stock motor for about 700$? and a buddy of mine will install it for 300$. Is there anything i should know before i do this? like trying to get a different motor wit the money , or other shit? Im bummed out right now since ima have to walk to work tomorrow lol, soo i need to know ASAP! :O
Thanks guys! |

first I'd check with your emissions crap and make sure of which engine you can put in it. If I'm not mistaken I think you have to use the same year or newer engine.and second $70 doesn't sound like a bad price at all, how many miles are on it?

First I would start with by replacing "wit" no ghetto slang please this isn't Jersey Shore.
Ok now that I'm done giving you a bad time. I strongly suggest doing the work yourself if you have the tools or access to them. It would be a great learning experience for you. How many miles are on the motor? It is possible you could rebuild the bottom end with forged rods and pistons. Do minimal work on the top end and have a much stronger motor for the future. |

im pretty sure it was just a typo you dont have to chase him down for it.
But OP depending on how many miles $700 is a pretty good price. just one question, if you knew it was on its way out, why didnt you just fix it before the whole motor was trashed? |

you could buy a cobra motor or mark viii motor and put that in your car. I have seen mark viii motors go for real cheap around 300 for the lowest but that would be alot better. harder work but would pay off. Or if you want to keep it as original as you can look for any 4.6l from 99-04 and it will work. Pulling theese motors is pretty easy so if you have any mechanical knowlede at all even a little you should do it yourself and save the money

@Doubleohvert. It was a typo. But yeaah I put in a motor myself. 700$ for a 2003 motor with 60K miles. It was fun
car runs like a champ now! Just gonna be extra careful with the oil.
