2003 GT mod's

Hey Guys, I purchased my stang in july of 06 used of course and have had a blast with it. shortly after I purchased it I came across this site on the net and have been very impressed with the knowledge that you all have, so I figured I would pick your brains for a bit about the car: it's a 2003 GT 5spd about 60kmiles. Currently I have a: BBK 75mm TB, a Volant CAI, Maganflow weld in mufflers (still has the stock tips), a Pypes Catted X, and a Diablo Tune.

What im looking to do is get a set of patriot stage 2 heads, a set of comp cam 272ah's, 3.73's, bbk plenum, and a stroker kit. after that i will start looking into power adders (leaning towards a single turbo setup)

I'm not a hardcore racer or plan on being one for that matter, just looking to break some hearts at the stop light type of thing. what do you guys thinlk of my current setup and plan modifications? have any suggestions? and feedback good or bad is much appreciated. also as a side note, this is my daily driver as well.

I've heard bad things about the patriot heads. They have problems with the cam journals not being machined well or something like that. But for the price its tempting.

With those cams, and the posibility or a turbo in the future, plus you said you plan on a stroker kit so I'm guessing your going to forged your crank rods and pistons. If it where me I would go with the stage 3 heads to help out the turbo a little more. And depending on boost and how your tune is you should have a real monster!

Hope this helps,
Doc

welcome to the site. seems like you've got a pretty good handle on the modding thing and you know what direction to take. that's a good thing, because without a good plan, you could end up spending money needlessly. i've heard good things about the patriot heads. i know in the past they had some problems but they seem to have them solved. how's that volant intake? i have one for my explorer, but i went with a JLT for the stang. i would strongly recommend doing gears next. i'm running 3.73's and you'll find a lot of arguments on this site regarding whether you should go 3.73's or 4.10's. just do what you want. it's your car. just have fun doing it and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I love the volant CAI so far, it says it was for an 02 gt but had no problems installing it on my 03. Yes, i plan on going with forged internals, I had to put in forged anyways for the FI, so i figured why not stroke it while im at it. hey 00vabchgt, how do you like your 3.73's? I have gone thru countless posts on the 3.73 4.10 thing, but decided on the 3.73's just to maintain my streetability. im looking for a boost over stock but dont want to loose my 1st gear either. if i decided not to go with patriot who else do you guys recommend? VT,shm? thx for the replies guys i really appreciate it, im still very much a novice at this stuff, but have learned a ton from the mustang boards.

VT (actually Foxlake heads) would be your best bet if you have the cash. I would not recommend SHM to anyone. The guy has has a big name, but his engines don't seem to live up to the hype.

i love the 3.73's. i wish i hadn't waited so long to do them. it was more a matter of finding someone to install them that would do them right and also not pull my pants down over the price. from what i've heard, vt makes some good heads, too. i'm probably just going to get a built longblock, still researching from whom. shm has a sweet ass crate motor for 15,000: http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/...-engines.shtml
it's the last SOHC motor.
