What to buy: 05-08 GT that I can mod or 2011 5.0 that I can't.

Hello I have loved Mustangs and I'm in the market to buy my first one. Currently I'm looking for a 05-08 GT or a 2011 GT 5.0.

My problem is this:
the 2011 GT is still fairly expensive(at least to me) if I was to buy one I wouldn't be able to do any mods right away. But the bright side is that it has over 400 HP :

Now if I got an 05-08 GT I could begin to mod right away(intake, exhaust and other things other than a s/c)

Which route would y'all go: modded 05-08GT or unmodded 2011 GT 5.0.

Also what are mods I can do to an 05-08 GT that are worth it? Is there a step by step write up somewhere that gives and idea of where to start and estimated HP gains.
Thanx and I look forward to the feedback

first off, welcome to MM, and i would definitly go for a 5.0. being your first mustang, it will blow you away and keep you happy with it until you can mod it. way better platform to start with over a s197. read around here and you will see, these 5.0s are making BIG numbers without opening the stock longblock. American muscle has a 5.0 automatic that id going 10's with bolt ons and nitrous.

The 5.0, all day long. Not even close.

Welcome to MM.

Was looking around a couple of sites and came across a 2006 GT convertible with 14,000 miles. Comes with a Roush supercharger and Roush muffles. The person selling it is asking $18,000 because he has medical expenses. Only downfall is that it's an auto .
Is that a good price?

In my area, that's a freakin steal with that kind of mileage. With the money you save on that over a new 5.0, you could pick up a TR6060 six speed and do intake, exhaust, cams, and probably a few other things.

Plus it looks better

Barring the car being beat to rat shit, that is indeed a steal.
