On3
I've done my searching but i just want some opinions. I hear a lot of good things from On3's Turbo kit but not a lot of people running them. Youtube has some vids but not a lot. And I read the thread that ModularSpeed wrote up. Just want some of your opinions. I hear its a decent kit but its on the cheaper side. Includes a 3'' intercooler with all piping (hot and cold). I will need a new k member and MAF and injectors. They sell all of that. All in All it should run $2500. Decent numbers too; 440 rwhp and 496lbs of torque on 10 psi. My bottom end will only handle around 8-9 psi though. So whats your input?

alot of people bash the kit and say its trash because its cheap, but it seems all those people have never actually had experience with the kit. ive read alot of good about it from people who actually have it. the only problem ive heard is that it comes with a shitty turbo, but you can pay $200? i think extra to upgrade. im planning to hopefully buy this kit next summer.

Im going with the on3 kit and there are plenty of these threads if you search it on this site. Im going with 42# lightning injectors, 290lph fuel pump, '05 slot style maf, the on3 kit with the 67mm turbo (+$400). All that's running around 3k. That's for the new forward facing kit and I already have a UPR k-member. I was also told that the oil line and the clamps the provide arn't that good and should be swapped out for different ones upon install. Then you have to add install and tune, meaning its not cheap after all said and done. I set aside $4300, and am hoping to get it all done for right around that, if not a little less.

Awesome kit. I love it. Only problem I have is that it goes over the control arms. If you dont plan on slamming your car you'll be fine.
V band clamps are ok but not the best quality. I made 460 whp and 500 wtq on a mild safe tune. With the old kit. Check out my build thread for more info. Link in my signature. |

Next, somebody had started an ON3 build thread a couple years ago, back when ON3 was a sponsor, and one of the parts was either defective or failed shortly after install - I can't remember which. The guy in the thread complained to ON3 and asked for a warranty replacement. It seems that ON3 had just stopped selling that part (apparently they had a rather high failure rate) - and so they asked the installer for an extra charge to upgrade to the new version. This really angered the customer. Then the owner of ON3 posted in the thread trying to defend his decision. Predictably, a bunch of the "Buy American" crowd took the opportunity to jump on the owner right then. The resulting flame war ended up resulting in ON3 being banned from The Turbo Forums, and left a lot of the members holding a grudge. So, I'd say that the reason a lot of the people on The Turbo Forums have a beef with ON3 is quite understandable - but it isn't because of the quality of the kits so much as with how ON3 had behaved on the forum. I don't really have a dog in the fight myself (I'd be glad to sell you a plug and play engine management package to handle your new turbo kit regardless of where you got it ), but wanted to explain the story there.

Thanks for the rundown. I didn't know all that. I had posted on the site about the kit and the people blew up on me. So now it makes total sense. Chad the owner didn't seem to like to do replacements. I live local and picked up all my parts and I was shorted a couple V-Band Clamps and they sent them right out. I got them the next day. So they did take care of me. Just like anything else, once you sell something to someone you don't know how they are going to be treating the product.... so it's always a tough call. But as a company, they have to take care of customers, their isn't really any excuse.
I didn't like the pipes going over the A-arms so I reworked the entire hotside to just come up under the K-member. The pipes are kindof low but not really that bad. I am thinking of reworking it again. I am always looking for ways for improvment.

What had to be done to make it work on the '96GT's ? I haven't looked to deeply at the On3 kits but I thought they had a kit for the '96-'98 GT's.
