I may be heading to North Carolina this weekend. Mustangs seem more plentiful down there and a little cheaper. I'm looking at a 2001 GT in reportedly great condition with 110K for about $5700. Hope its still there by the weekend.

I got half way on a 2 hour drive to West Virginia and the guy with a pretty 2002 GT (selling for 6K cause of a reconstructed title), calls me and says "Sorry, I just sold it". I had called him the night before and told him I was coming. So I drove around west virginia for 8 hours and at the very end of the day passed a small dealer with a 2003 GT that they couldn't let me drive because they hadn't got the inspection sticker on it yet. They are asking almost 11K. I offered 9K. It was in really sweet condition. They are going to call me this week and let me know if they can take 9. Of course this is all contingent on a successful test drive. Maybe I am getting close.

Armenianboi...your car looks nice but I dont want to add the cost and time of a trip to NH to buy my car.

You will find one eventually i got my 2003 gt for 8500 with 70xxx. just so you get a better idea what they are going for. Also if you buy a mustang from the midwest you can get them for dirt cheap in the winter, you just have to look to see if they have rust

I got my 2004 Mach1 for $13,600. 45k miles and no problems as far as I can tell. Definitely look around and be patient. Just be ready for the fuel cost, I filled my tank last thursday. By saturday I was down to 1/4 tank. I was driving like a douche those two days though.

Another no go...2003 with 107K...Beautiful red with black interior. Ran weak, hesitation in 3rd and 4th while excelerating normaly. I felt a high frequency vibration too. And the AC didnt work. And they wanted $9,000 for it.

Might look at a 94 with 75xxx tommorow.

Dont get one with the old outdated push rod 5.0. if you're going to buy one get a mod motor. I know that the 5.0 takes to mods really well but they are just old tech. And with all the stuff that can be interchanged with the Mod motors skys pretty much the limit.

Plus, if you need parts for the stang, go to the local junkyard and im pretty sure you can find a crown vic, lincoln town car, f150-250, grand marquis, other mustangs, explorers, and so on. parts are everywhere. And if you get the 5.0 how hard is it to find other fords with 5.0s at the junk yard?

Just my opinion. Plus if you say that 03 felt under powered. Wait until you get into that sn95 5l.

I know slow because I got a 96 GT which is rated the same HP as a 94 and it is slow. Which is why I am in the process of doing a 4V swap.

BTW all that is just my opinion. But if your going to dish out the money for a GT might as well be a PI GT which is 99+.

that sounds normal for a mustang clutch, for $6500 you can find one with lower miles.I would keep looking. Good luck on your 1st stang

The end of a search...for now

Well...to close this thread...I am ashamed to say...I bought a Supercharged Mini Cooper.

My plan was to get an 01 GT Mustang to get me through a few years and then get one of those 30MPG 2011 V6 Mustangs once the price fell a little. Thats still the plan but I went with a mini. The price of gas helped push me toward something else. If its any consolation, I do have some buyers remorse. These Minis are a bitch to maintain and expensive to maintain, which I didnt know till after I bought it.

Let the cat calls begin! I promise to do better next time.

This is my 2 cents....

Yes, a mustang could easily last 200k miles if taken care of properly. The problem with buying one with over 100k is that you dont know how well the previous owner took car of it, i had a 2003 v6 for 4 years, i got it with 23k miles and sold it at 98k miles, and NEVER had a problem, ive also had an 89 5.0 and 2 2003 mach 1s, i love mustangs and i think they are great and can be reliable but i warn you, if you wanna have your mustang for a while, i would suggest trying to find a ride under 80k miles.

And on an MPG note, my mach 1 gets between 18 city and 23 hwy, if a gt is running right it should get around the same. Its no miata, but DEF worth the trade off.
