Opinions about buying a used engine.

I would love to do a 4.6L v8 swap on my 2006 v6. But i don't know if I should have any reservations about buying a used engine?

Please do not flame. I do not wish to just buy a v8, i want to have some fun and work on my vehicle!

What exactly is the question? People swap used engines often. Being able to hear the engine run, tearing down/inspecting the engine, knowledge of the engine's history, etc, all should have an effect on your reservations.

Agreed. Knowing that you've done all the work makes for some serious gratification. Just make sure there aren't any cracks or warps in the block from previous abuse.

You basically answered my question. Was just wanting to know things that I should look out for when purchasing a used engine. Especially if it is offline. Anything else to look out for under those circumstances?

Make sure to be aware of any guarantees on used parts you buy online. The block is what I personally pay the most attention to. Other parts, you may want to change or upgrade if you decide to go for a real project kind of car. If you do a rebuild, you'll figure out quick if any parts are damaged while you're gettin your hands dirty.
