Help me out here Modded Mustangs

I'm a very occasional poster here as I do not own a Mustang, but often have questions and what not.

So here it goes.

I've browsed and searched etc. etc. and I already know most of the brands from my previous vehicles as they seem to be the same throughout car makes and models.

I am planning on buying my friend a set of headers for his birthday for a 2006 Mustang GT. The car is in good condition and is mostly stock, I know the obvious parts of buying headers (always go ceramic, long tubes, etc.) What brands fit the best, for the best price and are the best quality.

I know I could have searched extra hard to find these answers, but forum members always find and know the best deals from my experience but it is seldom expressed in FAQs and stuff, more randomly throughout threads.

thanks in advance!

Almost forgot, are any of the stock components usable with headers? Just curious as some cars the stock parts are good quality and some not.

just buy some shorties, he wont get much more HP, if any, over L/T's, and if you get L/T's your going to need a matching mid-pipe as well. Buy shorties, retain the stock midpipe, see about the same amount of gains. Coated are better as they stay nicer longer.

Mostly stock, for the same money you could get some gears and get alot more bang for the buck. If he has gears get him a nice shifter or a handheld tuner. Any type of headers on a mostly stock car are going to see minimal gains, and not really be worth the money.

You will not see the same gains from shorties to lt's.

Long tubes would be much better. You can buy a pack that comes with lt's and a mid pipe. Remember that it Should use a tune after.

yeah LT's you will see a decent gain, shorties nothing... that being said, i would say whats your budget? cause i have never heard of one bad thing about kooks... but a lot run mac, i ordered ceramic lt mac's oct 10th and to this day had never recieved them, they are on back order or some shit, i went with ceramic coated JBA lt headers and an o/r midpipe. you will need a tune and probably some o2 extensions... so if he doesnt have a tuner you could always get him a SCT hand held tuner and bama tunes for life for an extra 150 dollars, that is free tunes for life... lol
