Man, that looks real classy. You did an excellent job of fitting all the parts/pieces together.

One word of advice though: In the fifth picture, I notice that there is a little bit of underfill on the weld that would not pass inspection. Just make sure that you bring the weld atleast flush with the surface of the tubing. However, it may just be the angle of the picture that is casting a bad shadow and making a false reject appear. Also, just for future reference, a piece of 3/16" flat bar would probably have worked better to secure the tubing to the frame. The flat bar would have allowed for a small amount of vertical to be placed on the unibody frame and would resist cracking much better.

Once again though, you have done an excellent overall job.

first off, the weld will pass tech, it is very flat and the machined piece is actually made to have the weld sit a tiny bit lower than the edge of the tube. It is designed to be TIG welded with the majority of the penetration heading into the tube from the side, not top. ITs a off-road desert racing tube clamp.

3/16th would have not been any better, this is 4130 and designed to add a certain amount of rigity. The simple straight tube design will only allow for so much anti-flex. To gain any real advantage in flex over this setup you need to go with a latter setup that has integrated seat mounts. Tear? its .120 4130, so i sure hope you are talking abou the metal on the uni-body tearing. That is possible but very unlikely in this application, the legnth and strength of the weld will decrease the chance of that happening.

but thanks for the "suggestions" on this street car.

Damn I'm looking for something similiar as that but much of a cage more of a roll bar with a removal angle bar and harness bar (nothing going past the front seat) How much do you charge for roll bars like that, just wondering for a rough estimate I might receive when I get mine made...

Yes, I was talking about it forming a crack in the unibody structure. I wasn't trying to tell you that I thought it was a screwed up job. On this site, we try to offer constructive criticism based on our individual areas of expertise.
I'm sorry, I will refrain from posting in your threads in the future.
