Question on Trouble Code

Ok, i keep getting this trouble code:

P0455- Leak or Blockage Detected in Evaporative Emission Control System.

and have read all kind of stuff about it, even replaced the gas cap a few times but that did not work. the light still keeps coming back. I have also checked for cracked hoses to see if that might be the problem, because after my car runs awhile, if i put it in park or nutruel the motor rpms, drop way down then pick back up. so that made me think there is a hoses leak or something. ok here is my question other then gas cap what else can i check to see what is causing the check engine light to come on with p0455?

Check all vacuum hoses starting at the canister. Check the gas tank filler hose. Check the canister for cracks. check the valve and solenoid for operation. Have a smoke test done. Never fuel the car when its running (not saying you did, just possible cause). Good luck if you haven't already gotten it fixed. Oh yeah, don't use aftermarket gas caps. (Once again, not saying you did)

Sometimes dirt dobbers will clog up a vapor hose with mud and that can cause it also.
