traction difference 96-98 & 99-04
a friend of mine had a 98 mustang gt with a few mods and 3.73's. he traded the car for a 97 cobra and i did a couple things on it. both of his mustangs just flat hook, i dont get it. both are lowered sitting on nitto 555's, with no other kind of suspension or chasis mod. i spin bad in my car, my car dont even know what it means to make second gear useful. i have upper and lower control arms, subframe connectors, and have had a few different gear combo's in the car to try and aid this. what makes them so much better?

j/k not to start shit or sound like i'm a bad ass, but i have yet to be out driven around here. i drove both of his cars and it is a night and day difference. i couldnt hook that good when my car was stock. his cars actually lifts in the ass when getting mashed on. his cobra has cai, p&p t/b, o/r x, and slp cat back. i dumped it at 4500 rpm and it just snaped my neck and took off. the same at 5k, and power shifting through the gears.

He must have something done to launch like that. If I did I would spin until I let out.

nope, me and his dad do all the work on his cars. if your car is spinning on those same runs, then maybe he just got lucky with his cars. the lift was real noticable after the bbk lowering springs were installed on his cars. his car sticks and your car would spin on a hard launch?

we know the previous owners, they bought the car new. the cars were bone stock, that is the only way my friend will buy his cars. he knew the owners and knew what kind of condition they were in and what maintenience was done and how often.

ur friends a smart man, finding a mustang that has had the crap beaten out of her is a rare thing. Does ur friend have anything in his trunk pushing his rear down? Thats may cause him to hook so well, with no sus mods.

really??? he doesnt really have anything in his car, just the basic stuff like a t-shirt and cd's. when i drove it i actually had the car gutted to clean the whole interior. it just strange to me that his cars act like that and seems no one elses does.

There is a traction difference between the two, I've seen it also but have never figured out why. Both car are the same wheel base, but the 99 and newer cars are on a stiffer chassis. Yes Ford refined the chasis when they did the face lift in 99. Once you get your car to hook better you'll see that it feels more stable going down the track and goes down the track straighter.

But our cars are superior because they hook! NPI= Hooking Chassis PI= Non Hooking Chassis!

I've noticed this too... my car hooks quite well and its got the pi swap done to it yet its a 96. The only time I ever have issues is turning at low speeds with the gas around halfway down, pulls out the back end a bit.
