Supercharger or turbocharger

Hey there. I have a bit of a problem in my hands.I'm not sure if i should get my 06 mustang a turbocharger or a supercharger. Ive done hours of search and frankly none of its helped. I know exactly how each work.Ok well here are my options, I can either get a Turbonetics Mustang GTl w/ CAT Turbo System witch makes 450hp at 8psi or get a Roush Stage 3 Supercharger Kit witch makes 425hp at 5psi. Price isn't a problem because theres only a 20$ difference. I want my mustang to be as fast as possible and i want to improve my 1/4 mile time What should i do?

why do u like turbos better? i would rather have the power from the moment my foot hits the pedal.....i know its easier / takes less power from the engine, but i dont understand why its more liked

then again i'm also not very schooled on the two ~

Turbos are free power...

Superchargers put drag on your engine by the engine having to turn them with the belt...

Turbos are more efficent...

Superchargers are not as efficeint...

Turbos can change the power output by the turn of a knob on the fly...

Superchargers need a pulley change...

The list goes on for days...

Chrisj nailed it "Turbo" you can always upgrade there is no limits to the power you will gain. Turbo stangs are pushing 1000 + hp with no lag on the tracks and they are street legal.

Not so much unlimited...

The size of the turbo is a limiting factor as the same with a supercharger...Each one has a limit...

i never really liked debates like this because they're always more opinionated than anything. But the truth is turbos are much more efficient than superchargers. And its almost irritating how the word lag almost always comes into play when people hear the word turbo, but the reality is they build good boost pretty low with a correctly sized turbine housing. Trust that the v8 has enough exhaust gas velocity to spool a turbo rather quickly. If this was false, turbos wouldn't make the kind of bottom end torque that they do. You can go on all day about how the supercharger makes instant boost, but remember that boost doesn't make power, Airflow and efficiency are what make power.

+23.6

the only downside i can think of for turbochargers is that they generally cost more

Not true BWAL, i payed $500 for mine, just the turbo itself

the biggest downside of the turbo is the extreme heat they make

$500 for just the blower? I would suspect you'll have to pay 4x that before you're actually in business.

Acutally, i believe he was referring to the turbo "kits" and although they do produce a lot of heat, it doesnt effect the intake charge nearly as much as people thing. Turbos are generally more efficient than most blowers. Due to the fact that they compress the air more efficiently, they actually tend to produce cooler intake charges than superchargers (ESPECIALLY POSITIVE DISP BLOWERS). The heat's not as extreme as you'd think. Maybe on the turbine side, but the compressors arent bad at all.
