Cold Air Filter Serious problems

Aftermarket Air Filter for your cold air tube can be harmful for your engine. If you look at your filter you should see on the exterior side a steel brace, this goes the length of the filter and covers the seam, where the filter is joined together. If this steel brace is not on the exterior of the filter and you find it inside, replace the filter ASAP this steel brace will fail and being inside the filter it will travel through the intake and get logged in your throttle body causing damage to your TPS (throttle positioning sensor), your car will feel like its laking fuel and or running on 3 cylinders. If this part ends up getting to your engine you will have some serious damage. Filters sold within the last year solo or with an intake
This Brace is used to cover the joining seam of the filter and also stops filter from collapsing under loads.

If it makes it to your intake, it would surprise me. first the mass air has a screen over it, unless you removed it.

reply On 05 /07 stangs the tube is long and the mass air is narrow and on a tube a thin bar has no problem, don't forget the suction it's just like a vacuum only stronger and the min size for a cold air is around 3 1/2''. Most braces are around 4 to 6 inch tall 1/2'' wide and 1/8'' thick and if it wasn't made for a strong stainless steel it possibly would have logged it self in the plainum or intake valve. And as far as filter goes it is a name brand filter.

Is this spam ?

Its written like spam , reads like spam ,so it must be spam .

My other question is,if the "steel" brace is on the outside of the filter ,how is it gonna get sucked through the paper and into the TB ?
Your car makin 2000hp ?

on some filters manufactured and sold by big name companies, the brace was installed inside the filter

If it was a common problem, we would know by now.

We've all noted, when buying a filter, buy one that has had about 5 seconds of R&D into it, like any name brand, and this won't be an issue.
