What is Streetable?

What is the Streetable Crap I hear all the time. Everyone says, it would work, but its not streetable. The only engines Ive ever seen that aren't street able are ones that idle at 2000rpm and will rev past their red line without the fuel cut off being able to catch it. Aside from those engines, what would make a normal car not streetable? A hugely lopey idle? will it not be able to engage till 3000 RPM? I ask about a N/a car, and everyone always says, possible but not streetable. SO please, what are you talking about, because if it still drives without blowing up or requiring a clutch every 300 miles and 2 mpg, its definitely street able to me.

you can street a lot of motors and a lot of cars. built motors usually dont get into power till a certain rpm, required to run higher rpm, require very aggresive tune, require higher octane fuel (higher than 93), set ups needs steep gears or a stall, poor idle, low vacum, cooling issues with some, etc. if a motor is made to run higher rpm's and it dont, you will start fighting carbon build up, poor motor performance, detonation from carbon build up, etc. the cars suspension will affect ride quality, and may not be made to take the abuse for dd. there are a lot of things to factor in, this is just the tip of the iceburg.

Thanks for the explanation, i'm glad to hear there is a real reason. I hear too much from people that are worried about comfort rather than the machine. I don't give a rats ass about comfort. But if its going to cause me cooling issues and build up, that matters.

+1

i remember my dad talking about how is friend had dual 4 barrel carbs that were like 1,000 cfm each or something, i forget.. anyways he said that his friend couldnt hardly let the car idle.. he always had to have it in the higher rpms just to keep it from flooding
