A supercharger is going to be running all the time. Turbo kicks in at a set RPM range. If you're driving it on the streets and not hitting that set RPM range, it's not going to boost. Without that boost, you won't be burning as much gas. Therefore you'll retain SOME gas mileage. A supercharger will give you power throughout the band, whereas the the turbo has that lagtime before it boosts. However, you can get two different sized turbo (not to be confused with twin turbo). One smaller to spool up at lower RPMs and a larger one for higher rpms. In my opinion if you're going to do that, might as well supercharge it if you want to keep that load on your engine all the time.

Either way, a power adder will create more of a load on not only your engine, but everything else. You're going to want to beef up everything, such as your rear, put in subframe connections, rear shock brace, etc...

If you plan on doing headers through exhaust, you're going to want to get a supercharger. That is unless you buy and install a custom rear-mounted turbo system. Then you can still have headers installed.

I would go turbo. Second choice would be a KB blower.
