Don't LaughA few months ago I bought my first Mustang. It had been years since I had driven a muscle car and I was really looking forward to this car. I had to stay cool (my wife doesn't really know I'm crazy), but I eventually found myself at the old quarter mile. This is the place where we ran the '66 Dodges, the '68 RTs, the 442s, the 396/375hp Chevelles when they were new. It is located at a remote stretch of road. The white lines that we had painted across the road many, many years ago were gone. But I knew where they used to be. I lined up at the starting line. I used to launch the old Dodge at 3500 so I thought I'd start there. The tack hit 3500, I popped the clutch and... disappointment. The engine bogged down. The tires spun only momentarily and then nothing. The time through the old track would have beaten most of the old want-a-be's back then, but I knew I was doing something wrong. So with no one around, I tried it again at 4000. Not much better. I was really starting to wonder what the excitement about Mustangs were about. I tried it again at 4500. It nearly killed the engine. Who would want this thing? Did you know there is this little switch called traction control just in from of the shifter? It makes a world of difference when you turn it off.

...not me ...I got into such a habit of pushing my fog light button and the trac control after starting up, that I thought something was wrong the day the trac control light didn't come on, I kept hitting that stupid button then I realized it had been turned off thru my xcal...We all have brain farts

Man, I was about to tell you that your car is F'ed up. With the TC "off", a 3500 rpm launch will result in some ultimate tire shreddage.

ummmmmmm, traction control doesn't really make ur car feel like the motor is bogging down, it just cuts the power going to the wheesl, it almost feels like a car with clogged cats......

TCS does hinder the spinage... its like double rapping cause your afraid of skeetin to soon and having "loss of preformance" I dont know.. my car doesnt have TCS... I know it makes a difference when you take it off,

It definitely makes a difference. After I learned to turn the switch off, I started wondering... How do I launch this thing without just burning out and going nowhere? Mustang are really light in the back.
