little curious about the swap
k i been curious about swapping a V8 in my car
i got an 87 stang, so obviously a mod swap isnt the easiest thing but if i see a modular engine sitting in a junkyard ima snatch it up (i visit there a lot) so here we go, what would i need besides: k-member (i assume they make these for this type of swap) the engine the transmission the computer wud i need a different driveshaft or what? and i would probably need a different transmission right? my T5 wont be able to handle it i assume..

Wiring Hareness. New rearend unless your car has an 8.8, probably a drive shaft and you would have to mess with the front suspension to accomidate the added weight of 4 cylinders

4.6 in a fox is the worst thing you could do

MSO......stick with the 5.0....u don't want a 4.6.....
u'd need so much more then just the engine and computer....... now........maybe u could cram 2 2.3 in there and have them spin 1 wheel each

dont matter, $3-4k is still cheaper than your car (no offense, jus sayin) and it will be faster cuz it will have a nice 200 pound weight reduction

more then that..im a convertible....try closer to 400
but ur not understanding the point. It would be cheaper and easier to just drop a 5.0 in there. |

And 5.0s are more mod friendly, and parts are cheaper and more abundant. 4.6s are good, they just cost more than your gonna want to spend. After all arent you poor and jobless.

go with the 4.6 the power is there and I like the 4.6 more than the 5.0 if you go to the yard you can get all the parts for a 4.6 swap for under a grand and then the crossmember cradle somebody makes to swap it in for like 600 i think. I want to do a 5.4 swap into a fox body but have to finish other things first. the what ever hp is is not the selling point but the 300 ft lbs at like 2600 rpm is just awesome in stock form. good luck take lots of picks and go to modularmustangs they know alot about this swap

and the 4.6 has better power stock.. if i do the swap i dont plan on modifying it i plan on saving up for another car.. so the engine swap will be final (for a while) and i can get everything i need at the junkyard, except for a few things like the k-member and a few other things

dont get me wrong i like the 4.6 better but they do not have alot more power stock my 71 came with flat tops and has 210 hp and 300 ft lbs of torque on 89 octane gas and no fuel injection. power is equal stock but the 302 is easier i just like the 4.6 more. i thought about swapping one into my bronco but it was strickly for mpg reasons not power

id have to look for the link, but there is a company that makes a simple computer system to run the 4.6's fireing system, and all youd want to do is convert it to a carb car to make it easier on you. ive alrdy seen a 4.6 swap into a fox and it runs 13.8's at the track on a mostly stock motor. plus the car would handle better :]
