Inside of headlights? dirty

I was looking at the inside of my headlight on my 2001 mustang and there seems to be buildup of dirt and film inside the headlights. Now has anyone ever opened and cleaned the inside of their lights before? I dont know how else to clean it , but someone told me to stick it in the dish washer and that would do. Any thoughts?

Lights souldnt let dirt in like that it sounds like you might ahve a crack in it somewere or unless you drive down dirt road alot. You could mix up soap and water and pour it in the bulb hole with the light out and shake it up but be sure to let it dry completly dont want any vapor left inside

I disagree with pouring anything inside the housing. Those bulbs get extremely hot and are an electrical component. If water/soap get on it your gonna create more problems.

Besides ,if the inside is foggy/dirty ,it means the seal has been compromised so that wont fix your problem.

^ +1 on that. That melts the glue holding front and rear housing so u can pull them apart and really get in there and clean them.

^ This will give u some tips when ur doing this. And it will tell u how to put them back together. Hope this helps!
