4.10 gears

I am sure this question has been asked and answered a 1000 times on this site but I cant find it. What will 4.10 gears do to the top speed of my car? If it is drag limited at 147 I dont see how it would take anything of the top. will it slow it down at 60 to 100?

your car can't go over 47mph with 4:10's.

nah just kidding... you will be fine.. your car doesn't make enough power to max out a 4:10 ring... it's in the 180mph zone...

Yes you answered thank you. So 60 to 100 would be faster the same or slower? Do you know?

Im talking about road course not drag strip. I go to Summitt Point in west virgina. they have three tracks there. I have ran the shenendoah circuit a few times and the summitt point circuit has longer straights so I'd like to see what I hit.

Depends on how much power you are putting down and how you are attaining that power.

Mine is effected do to I max out the gear before I get to full boost. I would need a 6spd or 3:73's to see the top end on my car.

For most though you wouldn't see a real difference in top end as you will rarely get there.

I am talking on the street though. I never really run my car at the track.

You're running a novi 2000 .. on what looks to be a stock 2v .. how often do you see 180 mph ?

Even though the 4.10 causes you get through each gear quicker hence the quicker acceleration .. no power .... you still see the same rpms .. and therefore the same boost #'s throughout

I dont see 180 mph.

It has a full built lower end. Unfortunatly it was done before I bought it. The shop remembers the car but not the parts I also run a set of Crower cams and it needed valves, rockers, and a few other things I am forgetting I am sure.

All internal work was done prior to me buying it. I have about half of the receipts and I know the shop that did the work. As I said they remember the car but not the exact parts in it.

I do not see 180 mph and I dont know what stang does. I know I tach out my car at 150 ish and it is still pulling at ony 5 psi in 5th gear but I run out of gear for it to pull any more.

Also since the car revs so fast the car does not see the same PSI in each gear as it did with stock gears. I run through 1st and 2nd so fast that the blower cant keep up do to its size and only sees around 4 psi and for a split second at best.

The car is a street car on street tires, so yes it spinds hard and fast. 1-3rd are about dead useless. Even with brand new tires that are on the car.

Best I can do is a down shift to 3rd from a roll. the car still spins and only see's about 6 psi when I am out of gear and into 4th. In 4th I will see a full 8psi for the first time.

Thats why you get 4.10's for an N/A set-up, and 3.73's for a blown set-up.

I know.................now.

I was dumb as hell and I am the one paying for it. Right now I want the car tuned, so 3:73's will have to wait a bit.

They will be in the car though in the next month or two.
