fuel leak....ummm....i guess

Hey guys...

Been reading topics for some time now,and I finally joined. I guess Its time to start askin' some questions about a minor problem that I have.

Well, let me start off by saying that My fuel pump went out on me friday coming home from work. Towed and was sad.

I got my fuel pump, and did the work all myself. But what sucks is that I had to remove all my gas in the tank, and i had just filled up.

Dropped the tank, removed all the fuel lines, installed and voila! It worked.
I had saved some gas just to start it.

When I went to fill up, fuel started leaking from the main fuel hose on the right side of the tank. Theres 2 hoses, One with a clamp and one with a big rubber gasket on it. Which is a metal tube.

The one with the big gasket was leaking, and i mean LEAKING.

Did I not put the tank up right? Even though its sitting in the same place where it was.

Can someone tell me what i did wrong? Im afraid of filling up and leaking.

Thank!

This is a common problem after installing a gas tank.
I have had this happen to me 2 times. On the tank there is a big rubber grommet that fits in the tank hole, and the filler neck goes in there. The rubber grommet is torn/cut from where it sets on the lip of the gastank. What happens is when you take the filler neck loose or out it disturbes that grommet (gasket) thats been setting there for years.
Here I will give you a link to where you can buy one for a good price.
