Some assistance for a 4.6L 2V swap to 5.4L 3V

Hello all. My name is Robert and i have an 04 competition orange GT. I work at a ford dealership and now have in hand a 5.4L 3v and 2 extra 4.6L 2v's. I've been doing a little bit of research here and there on what i can do to the 4.6 and things look good. but i've been told by quite a few people on my other forum (panhandlegearheads, com, i'm bigass on there) that the 5.4 is a good engine to go with. So now that i got one for free, i'm pretty head strong about going with it. i've read the clearance is good and i just need tubular k-members to make it stay

now my main question(s) is: does anyone know if i'll be needing anything else? i have someone that's going to sell me a t56 for very cheap and i'll eventually get around to swaping that in and i know i need a shorter driveshaft and new Ujoints(which i have now).

so if anyone could give some helpful advise, comments, criticism, or anything else that could further help me out, i'd be very grateful.

thanks,
robert

engine wiring harness and computer, check into motor mounts- they are different from the 2v block and 3v block

i saw one tonight at a car meet... let me tell you that 5.4 dont fit in our body style stang very well.
the intake sticks about 3 inches higher then where the stock hood would be at.

it sure looks bad ass though

The 3v uses throttle by wire... which is going to be problematic.. I think you can switch the heads over tho.. I know 1 person who did it, but really its not worth it at this point bc nobody knows how to do it... just do a 4v swap

I would do 3v swap if i knew all i needed to know - the 3v head is the best available and its cheap

The 5.4 fits just fine. It bolts in just like the 5.4. You'll need to make sure you get timing chains and guides, etc. from a 5.4 3v truck like an f150. As for the intake manifold, you're going to have to do some custom work becuase the stock one isnt going to fit and there are no aftermarket options. You could use the truck intake, but it's not any type of performance piece and it's big to say the least. There aren't any hoods that'll close over the truck intake. Other than that, the swap is pretty straight-forward. If you're going to do it make sure you get the whole engine, and swap your heads and cams over. The stock headers will fit, but you'll have to modify the h-pipe.

Your stock computer will work, but it'll need to be re-tuned. Im sure it'll run less than perfect with an extra 49 cubes added onto the stock tune.

are you talking about 2001 vert??

and no it is not simple if you are working with a same type of k-member, it needs to be alot lower than the stock one look into a custom k-member for this type of swap and THEN it will b simple,
