I Dont Know What To Buy

Right now I have a 2003 V6 and in a month I turn 18 and I can buy a new stang. Only thing is I dont know what to buy, every time I make a decision I end up changing my mind. I want to get a 99-04 body style V8. Terminators are out tho, lol too much money there. I really love Mach 1s but, it would almost be a better deal to buy like an 01-02 GT put a on couple of bolt ons and it can run faster than a Mach so Idk. My choices are 99-01 Cobra, 01 Bullitt, 99-04 GT, or 03-04 Mach 1. Like what would the best best deal for my money?

'03 or '04 Mach would be your best bet. They come with the 3V engine or is it the 4Ver???..... Either way its a better base engine to start out with modding. They can handle more HP then the 2Vs that come in the GTs. And plus its just a hell-of-a lot cooler car too

They came with 4v's and how do they handle more power than a GT stock? They have the same internals except 5 speeds have a forged crankshaft but that doesn't even help the weak areas of the stock engines which are the rods, the Mach 1 and GT handle the same amount of power stock because they have the same internals. The Mach 1 will produce more power than a GT with the same mods because of the 4v heads and the GT's have 2v heads so they breathe better than a GT. The GT has an iron block which is stronger than the aluminum block the Mach 1's have, also Mach 1's have higher compression which isn't good for forced induction (which is the best way to make power with these motors)... The Mach 1's stock are a better option but a Terminator would be the best option of all... the 99-01 Cobras might have stronger blocks than the Mach 1's because some came with Teksid aluminum blocks... it all depends on what you want to do with the car... stock for stock the mach 1 is faster and will make more power with mods...

Your best bet would be to buy the mach. It will respond much better than the GT to mods and it is easy to get them into the 12's where it wouldnt be so easy to get a GT into the 12's. If I were you i would buy the mach and put in some 4.10 gears or 4.30's and do a little bit of suspension and some nitrous and you would probably be able to get 11's with that.

Get the Mach1. You could add every bolt-on in the book to the GT and it would probably be about as fast as a properly driven stock Mach1. 4.10's, some DR's, and a few bolt-ons and you'll be in the 12's no problem with the Mach1.

If you're looking at a Mach 1, remember that the 96-98 Cobras are essentially the same car, and you could save a lot of money going that route.

I say essentially the same, as there are differences that make the Mach 1 slightly better: shaker hood, higher compression, different heads (slightly better torque, but they have a known cooling issue), option of an automatic (if that's your thing), and the newer bodystyle. However, you can probably find one of the older Cobras for 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of the mach.

That being said, if you do get a 5-speed Cobra, take some of that saved money and put in the 6-speed.

All of the 4v cars are good platforms...Only thing is...the GT is cheaper and cheaper to modify...Now im 18 so i can relate...Just turning 18...im going out on a ledge and say your pockets aren't sagging with cash..I'd personally reccomend a GT and mess with the 4v down the road. If you're REALLY bent on a 4v i'd reccomend a 96-98 cobra...They're right within the price range of the 99-04 mustangs. For about 12-13K you'll snatch one in great condition. For about 15K it'll probabaly be just like new. A 99-01 cobra is a good choice too that could fall in that price range.

Mach 1s are still expensive. And you're not going to find a good terminator for under 20K...garuntee it.

I would get the Mach 1 over the cobra though...

I've always and always will see a Mach 1 as a cobra with a solid rear end, and a GT body kit basically. Or a GT with a cobra engine and a solid rear end...take your pick...they both work out...

I personally like the GT with the Cobra engine. I so rock that style. You pop a PI 4.6L DOHC in to a 98 GT and wow, it's awesome. A few suspension and light engine mods later, you fell like you can take damn near anything.
