Next Best Mod
I just recently purchased my new 2001 GT. My first car was a 97' GT that I owned for two and a half years, so I do know a little about Mustangs. I have an idea of what's to come but I wanted some other opinions. As of now I have a Steeda catback, Steeda short throw, BBK cai, and I am about to install my new 3.73 gears. I was wondering what ya'll thought would be the next best step in mods. Keep in mind I'm 19 and in college so I am on a budget.

Sorry about a redundant question... I just found the post on best first mods that I failed to find the first time. Answers are still welcome though. I was thinking about an o/r x with the steedas. I have also heard that throttle body spacers worked just as well as a new throttle body for a fraction of the cost, anybody have any input there also?

If I were you I would get a tuner, since you have the gears. Your speedo is gonna be all messed up if you don't correct it with a tuner or speed cal (which I think is a waist of money)

Do you know how much it'll be off? I have a buddy who put 4.30's in his 96' Cobra and he said his was off by about 20mph so I was thinking 5-10mph but that was just a guess. Do you know how much hp gain you can expect from a tuner?

I don't know exactly, but not only the the MPH will be off, everything will be off. Your mileage will go up faster, your rpms will be off, ect.... The amount of HP you gain really depends on the type of tune and your mods.

I've got 4.10s myself and my speedo says im going about 8-9mph faster than i really am, but the rpms are unaffected...They have nothing to do with gearing since the sensor is on the engine and not the driveline.

how do gears mess up your TACH!! last I checked my tach works just fine with out my car moving, such as when the rear gears are turning. Isnt the Tach signal coming from the ignition?
I can see the speedo being off, I can see the odometer being off, But I hate to do It but Im raising the BS flag on the tach being off. |
