To EVERYBODY On This Forum

to EVERYBODY on this forum.

let me start off by saying i am farily new here, but have a very high knowledge of mustangs, and a decent background history with them. although im fairly new to this site, i would like to point out a few issues to some people.

first and foremost. when asking about stuff for your car, it is VERY important that you list your Model, Year, transmission, and modifications. you ask tech questions, but nobody knows about your car to tall you, and can simply only guess. please PUT YOUR YEAR, MODEL, AND MODS IN YOUR SIG! you will get better answers, and wont have to add it into every post you make when somebody asks

secondly, i know there are a lot of young guys on this forum, and some of you probably can just barely afford your car, insurance, gas, and whatnot. but still, when buying mods, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. there is so many things that come into consideration with the price. material quality, reliability, durability, engineering, power gain, customer service, ect. 95% of the time if you pay hardly anything, you get hardly anything, while every now and then something is cheaper, and also very good, its not ussually the case.

so with that being said, why go skimp, and get something cheap to save a few bucks, only to have it fail, not be as good quality, not make as much power, ect. if you dont have much money, save it and buy something GOOD, if you dont have money to lose, dont buy junk.

next, recommending mods to somebody just because its what you have. just because its what you have, doesn't mean its good. for an example, somebody recommending a BBK CAI, im sorry, but it is a POS, its metal, and attracts and retains heat, metal is poor quality, filter is poor quality, ect. but this is just a example. its one thing to say hey, this is what you use. but dont say hey this is the best, ect, when you have to fact, info, or anything to back it up, VERY misleading.

Some very good points you have. However on the Metal CAI. Someone did a big study on one of the other forums regarding this and it was determined that the metal intakes do not increase air intake temps due to the heat soak because the air does not sit in the intact tract long enough to hinder it. And although the Intake temps did increase while at idle once the car began moving the Aluminum/metal intakes actually cooled down faster than the plastic intake. And I know someone is going to ask me to post this but I have searched and searched for it and cannot locate it. I saw it over 1.5 years ago and cannot even recall what forum it was on. But the person that did it did lots of data logging and such while testing many of the various intake for the 05 Stangs.

I would like to see the thread where someone recomended a bbk intake. It would be the only time i ever heard some recomend anything other than a jlt or C&l and state with utter certainty that you will gain more power than any other intake

Good points. Also good to say how much money you want to spend.

there was a thread in the 99-04 section where somebody recommended it just a week or so ago.

i have also done dyno tests on almost every CAI out there, and JLT lways came out on top, with the K&N FIPK trailing close behind. BBK typically made the worst power.

the BBK cools faster because it is thinner, and metal is less of an insulator than plastic, so it works to, and against your benefit. while the JLT uses PVC it it the best compromise.

some of the K&N FIPK kits actually use the stock elbow, and just put a filter at the end, and the stock rubber air tube is a plastic so it doesnt retain as much heat, and is also fairly thin, so when it does heat up, it also kools fast.

but JLT is definently the best, it is a thicker material, therefor it heats up slower, and is 4" in diameter in most cases so it has a bunch of surface area to cool it when it does heat up.

nothing in the tune, testing was done on a bone stock 03 cobra, same day, same cool down conditions, and everything.

HMUSN, i do sometimes come across as a dick. but im just a little guy. 3rd degree shoalin kempo black belt though, lol.

we tested the C&L too, but it was right around the MAC/steeda, i think our cool down times with the car sitting still and the engine bay heat build up really took a toll on those metal ones.
