PI Swapped Motor
i have a 98 gt an just swapped the pro mod 4.6 long block from dss racing. the motor came with the pi heads set up. so i bought the intake etc..to go a long with it. the problem i am having is that th pi intake only has 1 coolant sensor hole but the cars wiring harness has 2, 1 for gauges and 1 for the computer. i hooked up the "computer" sensor but not the "gauge" sensor and it giving me a bad code "engine coolant circuit low input" so it has to be this other sensor...wat do i do???? is their a way to bypass without throwing a code or do i need to tap into the intake?????any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Yes 98 there is indeed a way around this for you.
1. best possible way is to tap that aluminum passage so that no modifacations to the wiring harness is needed. since you already have it on the motor and dont wanna take it off.... 2. There is a block drain on the factory motors, is there a drain on this dss? Usually on the left hand side of the block its tapped to the exact fitment of the temp sensor. cut the harness and lenghten the wires and run it around the back side of the block and under. Hope this help buddy. Would like to see pics of this setup as well.... i bet it will run real nice.

I did the same swap in my 98 GT. I put in a 01 motor. the boss next to the t-stat housing has plenty of meat in it. I got a 3/8" pipe tap and drilled and tapped a hole there to install the sensor. make sure that you drill the hole far enough away from the stat cover so that the sensor doesn't hit in when going back together. U can get the tap for about 10 dollars at your local ace hardware store.
I hope this helps, John C |

Did the same thing as john c....I had put a 2002 pi motor in and had to tap a whole by the t-stat with a 3/8 pipe thread after i drilled the whole first.

That was what did in the original motor in my car. The intake cracked and the guy drove it until he totally ruined the motor. Good luck looking for one, I don't think that I would trust a used one. From Ford they are around 500$, I believe that aftermarket ones are around 200.00, I have seen them on ebay.
I hope that this helps, John C |
