+1 You're more limited by the stock cams and heads then the intake manifold.

Exactly, that's why people buy and build what they want.

So it is not worth it to get an after market intake. The stock PI intake sounds like it will be plenty with a new plenum and TB. But wouldn't a longer runner intake like the trickflow piece would be better, anyone know. MM&FF did an article on one with a supercharged engine, but it didn't say anything about an N/A setup.

On a stock engine the stock intake is fine...and most Street N/A applications..For boost, aftermarket intakes do help although you should do reasrch before buying an intake. Some are good while others...well...aren't so good...

you need heads and cams to make it meaningful, but at the very least new springs to prevent breaking something... and then there is the rods which are crappy

I have a set of PI heads and Cams that I plan to Port and replace. The Heads will flow well after porting and I plan on getting a custom Cam. What I want to know is, do I need new rods and Pistons to survive a 7000RPM Redline. I personally like torque but if I have to sacrifice 10 lb. Ft of torque at 3000 rpm for 1000 more rpm and 50 more hp. That is worth it. The intake I was looking at is good all over the spectrum, but, it really blows the stock stuff out of the water past 6000 RPM, so I just wanted to know, what I need to do to make my engine survive that. Wheather its new rods and pistons or just taking off the rev limiter.

You will need rods, pistons, great bearings, quality valves and springs, and a cam without excessive lift to keep it together IMO.
