i bought a used mustang


i bought a used mustang from a used car lot..and i can tell that the block has been out b/c it is painted..i bought it with a couple other mods also..it is lowered and it has flowmaster exhaust..i have put some mods on it myself, im planning on doing a PI swap..how can i tell if the car already has the PI swap done to it?

First things first, what year is it? and since your planning a PI swap im assuming its a 96-98 GT correct?

good question, i bought a used 96 GT and im in the same boat, the engines been out, has been lowered, stuff like that and im curious on how to ID the PI heads and intake

unless its pretty modded i doubt anybody has done a PI swap. basic bolt on's is pretty much the first thing. catback, midpipe, headers, intake, gears, tb/plenum, tune, and then people worry about PI heads, and cams most of the time.

if your going to do it though might as well get a set of ported heads, and aftermarket cams to make the most out of the swap.

yeah but i would like to make sure that i dont have them on there already..b/c if i do i dont wanna replace them with another set of PI heads and intake and waste my money..is there a way to ID them?

Since pretty much every monkey on here has told you everything EXCEPT the question you have asked. Look at the intake ports. If they are skinny and narrow you still have a NPI motor. If you have wide intake runners then you have a PI intake. Snap a quick pic of youre motor i can tell you if its PI or not very quickly. Im around these motors all day long

Sorry i cant tell by the pics you have put up. but its a 97 with an aluminum cross-over so its deff. either a PI or a NPI thats been updated.
