Automatic will not shift when car is really cold

Hello all
I have a 2007 Mustang Gt with a 5r55s automatic transmission. Today it was 5 below 0 in Minnesota ! I went out side to move my stang. I started the car up and I was just going to move it to the other side of the driveway. So I was going to warm it up. I found out that the push button for the gear selector wouldn't push in. So I waited for the car to warm up, then it shifted just fine. Is that normal?
This is one smart transmission!

I used to have the same problems with my Xterra. I'm sure it's normal.

It's freakin below zero!!! I'm sure that tranny can't handle that cold too well...

it's normal.

you want to make sure that your cars transmission fluid is warmed up before moving the car.

metal on metal plus cold = break
