Urethane or "Heavy Duty Fiberglass"
Hey, i'm about to buy a cobra r front bumper for my pony and I was wondering if you guys knew anything about the quality of different materials.. I can get a Urethane one for $380.00 but it has to be prepped, drilled, etc... Or I can get a "7 layers heavy duty fiberglass" that already has pre-drilled holes, mesh grille and pre primed for just $260.00? Just curious as to why such a big price difference it shouldnt be flimsy cheap material should it??? just curious as to you guys input

From my understanding urethane is a more flexible material. Where as fiberglass can break or chip. Basically, if you get the fiberglass one, watch for the high curbs.

Fiberglass will always at one point crack and/or chip...
Go with the urethane...You will thank yourself later on...Its worth the little bit of extra cash it costs... |

Definitely go with the urethane!
It molds alot better to your car and when the fiberglass gets cold you are in trouble. Not to mention the cracking of the paint. I bought the same front end off of Ebay for $230 plus $150 for shipping. I haven't had it painted yet but the fit is awesome! Good luck! |

man, I work in an auto body repair shop ... do not, i repeat do not even consider buying fiberglass... for sure on bumpers, if you hit a curb theres a 75% or better you will buckle your fenders because fiberglass has very little give, as with urethane most likely you wont , but still posible, and also fiberglass tends to as said above not fit very well, and needs extensive prime and blocking work to achieve a good look. I am considering buy that same cobra r stuff, probly getting cobra r wing in fiberglass , but trust me dont get it in the bumpers.

Urethane is more flexible, last longer, is easier to paint & prime, and looks better, because it molds better to the car. |

urethane is the choice .. but any aftermarket parts don't just "mold to the car" haha .. trust me .. even saleen peices take work to get to fit properly ... just remeber .. in the end .. its still a ford mustang ... but yeah .. the urethane hands down is the way to go if its a daily driven car .. its easier to repaint something if you hit it . .rather than have to repair a bumper and repaint it ..

this is funny that i saw this question i was having a conversation with mt dads friend and he owns a body shop and i asked him if i should get fiberglass bumper or Urethane bumper and he said that the fiberglass will worp after time and the paint will look an orange pele and he said that the Urethane bumper would be the better choice.
