if i had to pick between a termi and GT500 for a mod for mod contest and the end result would be power and the 1/4 mile, the GT500 would easily be my pick
well in a fair comparison, the termi got into the 9's pretty easily too.

also mod for mod the termi will run a fast track pass, lighter, more weight reduction you can do to it, ect.

so honestly, at the track, mod for mod they're about equal, until you get REALLY serious with things.

but put a solid into the termi (loses 150LBS) do a RCD and they're already equal.

your right, they are pretty close cars in stock comparision and mod for mod, i love the fact that they put the solid axle in the GT500, when ford built the termi, they built something that i think they found they had a little trouble making something better

the problem with the GT500 is that if you look at parts online, you instantly think its so much better because of how much the aftermarket parts community lies about the gains of there parts, example, K&N 52 horse from a crude CAI

well ford didnt name the 03-04 "Terminator" for nothing.

the GT500 has nowhere near the aftermarket parts that the termi does, but its getting there, its only been out for alittle over a year now.

the 52 horse gain is first off a little high, and second includes a tune. in the same conditions a termi will have the same gains. plus theres more to gain stock with pullies since you can pulley it up a whole lot more than you can with the GT500. you can only do a little bit smaller upper pulley, and no lower.

yea the pulley situation sucks i found that out a little bit back, but the termi parts arent nearly over exaggerated as the GT500 parts are in general

I like both to be equally nice so two 400+ payments gets costly. Used mint Termie you can get for 25 with low miles. Add 5 grand to that and your over 500rwhp and just as fast if not faster than a GT500. The body style still has not grown onto me though and not sure I would spend the money for one. I had the option of a new GT or a 16,000 miles mint Comp Orange Cobra and I made the rite choice. Its what it means to you-Shane
500 rwhp can be achieved with less then 5K. Plus, a 500+ rwhp Termi would work a Stock GT500. More power + less weight + better aero = easy win...

if you shop right, buy some stuff used, and do you own work for $5K in a termi you can have 600RWHP.

Shane.. the GT500 is 1/10th of a second faster than the Terminator in the 1/4

5k into a Terminator would destroy a stock GT500 man.

its a bit faster than a 1/10th second, they have run near mid 11's 100% stock, termi's are about low-mid 12's with a great driver, high 12's to low 13's typical driver.

The answers to this question are amazing to me. The Terminator is a much better value. I have personally seen 3 GT500's on the dyno in stock form. Thaat car is the most overrated pile of shit I have seen out of Ford to date. Two of the three cars were making in the high 390's and the third made 408 at the wheel. To run 11's with that pile of shit is gonna take some work. I'm sure there are people claiming this or that, but I would too if I had forked over 70G's for something worth maybe half of that.

It's just iritating to see Ford deliver more less than stellar products and the Mustang community just keeps buying into the bullshit. You all know how much I love the modular platform, but let's get for real here: Ford has provided us with yet another car that will get raped by a GM product in the same price range (Z06). The Terminator is the only Mustang to date that will hold a candle to the cars in it's own price range.

I don't even see how these issues are debateable.

but the gt500 and z06 arent in the same price range, theres like a 30k difference in sticker price. people that paid 70k for it just have the money and really wanted one, cant blame them.
