why are you just going stage 1 ? look at the crower stage 2 62801-2.. i mean why waste money on a stage 1 when you can spend the same on a stage 2 and get more power? and i think its like a 04.. he totalled his truck and will sell it to me

Stage II require you to replace the valve springs.... and im not sure about the ones you mention but the VT Engines Stage II require the springs to be changed. Also i believe the rpm range for improvement for the stage II is around 3000 where as the stage I start helping from about 1500 if i remember correct. Since i didn't really want to change the springs and the Stage I cams are noticeable at a bit lower rpm i decided to go with the stage I.

look them up... and i mean you already went all out with the 5.4 dont stop now.. and springs only 200 bucks anyway.. you gonna have to change them when you start makeing th epower ya know... go look Crower Cams & Equipment.. plus you have all those extra cubic inches for low end power.. and the these cams power start at around 1300.. and makes more power than the vt..

Stage 2 may be better, but without ported heads and bolt-ons, the stage 2 wont make much more power than stage 1 cams.

Hello my name is Bill. My buddy and I and wanting to put a lighting motor in place of his 4.6 in his 2000 gt.
I know we will have to replace the hood but what else will we be looking at? I read in your post that the 5.4 will drop with with only a few modifications but what about the lighting motor with the super charger??? Any help would be great or even pointing me in the wright direction would help. Thanks for the info so far |

Im not sure what all you'll need but you are gonna end up cutting a hole in the hood to fit it in there.

yep you are going to need 1/2 MM K member spacers and then maybe just maybe you can get it to clear under a 6 icnh lift off cowl hood....
but they will drop in place no problem...

No. They aren't. One of the cheapest mods you can put in. Get one used for around $50. If you do some research on the actual dyno numbers, it'll give you around 3 RWHP, and about 12-14lbs. of TQ. A CAI will run 4 times that price, and give you MAYBE the same HP gain, and less TQ gain.
Not to mention, it's easy as pie to install.

we're hopeful that I'll see 50hp/25tq to the tires from the pipes. While that may sound ultra optimistic there is some anecdotal data to support that hypothesis.

Well guys... this project is getting beefed up... i picked up a 1.7L KB intercooled cheap. I will be running about 9psi. Should put down around 400rwhp. Most likely i will be putting a clutch in as well this winter... more to follow.
