2nd Grinds

I think i've narrowed this down to a syncro problem...Everytime I try to shift into 2nd hard it grinds. When I'm casually driving (like normal crusing) I have no problems and its like the tranny is brand new. But again...when I stomp it in first and wanna throw it hard into 2nd it grinds. I've heard some things in magazines about some people swapping out the tranny fluid first. I've even heard about putting ATF in it and that'll solve it. Im thinking that it is the syncro though. Any suggestions/ideas???????
