My vote would go to Mac or Flowmaster... or some other chambered muffler.

If you have the money, find a Borla dealer, if you have no money, like most of us, go with Flowmasters or Magnaflows - remember mufflers no matter which ones all do one thing, muffle the sound, therefore you really need to get some high-flow cats to get that deep sound you desire outta your setup.

Flowmaster 40's on a GT=badass sound
on a cobra...unbelievable. i heard one today and i live 2miles away mayb 1.5miles away from a road without speed bumps so you can go fast with out hitting a speed bump i heard that cobra clear as day 2miles away from...i was on the phone with my gf and told her to be quiet so i could here it. flowmaster kicks ass so does mac but ive heard borla is best quality but i like the flowmaster 40s best |

Flowmaster 40's sound really nice. Bassani makes a killer sound. I have seen a terminator with bassani cat back and it was loud and deep.

i'd say flowmaster 40s and a 2 1/2in SLP O/R X-pipe with SLP 1 5/8in headers.

I PERSONALY HATE FLOWMASTER BUT IN TURN I GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR THEIR SOUND. PERFORMANCE STANDPOINT THEY ARE AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT ABOVE STOCK. I HAVE MAGNAFLOW MAGNAPACK CAT BACK AND O/R X AND IT IS LOUD!!! NOT THAT DEEP. THE REGULAR MAGNAFLOW SYSTEM IS DEEP MELLOW AND LOUD IF YOU WANT IT TO BE. BASSANI HAS A GREAT SOUND, SLP LOUDMOUTH SOUND CLOSE TO MINE, SPIN TECH IS OK ONE OF THOSE YOU LOVE IT OR YOU HATE IT,MAC IS PRETTY THROATY SOUNDING. THIS IS MY OPINION OF WHAT I HAVE HEARD IN PERSON.

This is a good thread, and very informative, but I've been to 300zxclub.com (cause i wanted a 300zx for a while) and the exhaust thread there has a collection of sound clips of the different exhausts. What you guys should do is record some sound of your setup, and post it here (if you can find somewhere to host it for you). That way each person could listen to the sound, and choose that way, instead of trying to explain the difference in sounds. I'm lookin at a '99 GT 35th anniversary edition, with 17" cobra rims, and probably one of the first things i would do is exhaust, headers, intake, and better cats.
P.S. I might have someone that will host the sound clips for you, but he's not real into mustangs, i'll have to talk to him and see.... if anyone can get a sound clip, let me know, and attach the clip to an e-mail and i'll try to talk him into hosting it. just in case the email doesn't show, it's cbriggs89@gmail.com |

ive got a upr off road x pipe into dynomax muffs on my 01 gt and i think it sounds like a stang should. flows are good but on 5.0 only. my buddy has an 03 gt with o/x/pipe and flows and its loud but has a weird rasp to it. ive heard all types of exhaust and i like the dynomax. its kinda what you want to hear outa your own car. i like mine but someone else may not.listen to alot of exhaust sounds on your year of car and make a decision for you.
