Exhaust help!!

Whats up guys, just joined this site, i just recently got my 2nd mustang 07 gt windveil blue, but this will be the first time i start adding some mods to it, first off i wanna do up the exhaust, my first ? is the factory pipes are 2.5 inches, i wanna upgrade to 3in, ive found a magnaflow catback exhaust and x pipe, but will i need new headers, should i just go ahead and get some long tube headers as well, or what? Anyone got suggestions, how is magnaflow, ive heard slp, magnaflow or flowmaster. Any info would be great thanks.

welcome to the forum. If you can afford long tubes that its great power. magnaflow is good. If you go to the 2005 section there is an exhuast sticky where you can listen to a lot of exhuast. How much you paying for the magnaflow system?

after going to that post and listening to those clips, i almost feel as if im overthinking getting a whole system and should just get an axle back, but i do want an increase in power and a better sound, just adding an axle back ill get the sound, but no change in power right? if thats the case i should stick with an x pipe and a catback huh? the magnaflow im looking at 3in diameter intermediate pipes i can get for between 575 - 699, depending where i go, but like i said if i got that plus a 3in x pipe, would i need to upgrade the headers? or anything else

I dont think you need to go with a 3" system unless your planning on going FI soon. The 2.5" is sufficient. As far as the midpipe go, an o/r pipe will give you a little power, either x or h. Axlebacks are strictly for your listening pleasure. Definately listen to the o/r h and x pipes before you buy 1. They sound different on these 3v's than compared to the 2 and 4v's.
Headers will be your biggest hp improvement with your exhaust, I would say expect around 15rwhp from headers, give or take a few
